BA2 - R.I.P
As you may know, after losing Niobe Dean and Hadrian Jonathan from the cast of Broken Allegiance 2, the decision was made in February to change the format from a live action film into an animated one. The idea was to record all the original actors’ voices and to continue with the same story, as we had done so much work on the project up to that point and wanted to salvage it in some way. Subsequently, Niobe and Paul Hooper recorded their lines, and for the past 3 months we have continued working hard.
However recently both Stephen Rees (Editor/Post Production Supervisor) and Henry “H” Gibbens (Lead Visual Effects Supervisor) have been forced to withdraw from the project due to overwhelming work and family commitments. Their departure is a critical blow to the production. Both H and Steve have been involved in principal development for BA2 from the beginning and H was the main instigator of BA2 in its original form.
We have been seeking for a little while some more VFX team members with character animation skills but have been unable to locate anyone with the necessary expertise to pull off what we had in mind. Good character animators for a volunteer project have proved very hard to find!
Due to my on-going commitment to the original sci-fi film project, I set a BA2 completion deadline of April 2005. However with our current loss of people, unfortunately I can no longer see us being able to get BA2 finished by then and really do the project justice.
It is therefore with great regret that BA2 has been cancelled. Short of a miracle, it’s all over.
We may at some future date release the script/story on the website so people can learn about what BA2 might have been. I am also considering using all the behind the scenes footage and artwork etc to make a short featurette on “BA2 – the fanfilm that almost was” so that some of the work that went into this film will be seen in some format.
My greatest respect and gratitude goes out to the many individuals that tirelessly put in many hours of work and effort over the past 9 months, and I am truly sorry that your work has been in vain.
I wish all the cast and crew the very best for all their future endeavours.
Yours truly,
Nick Hallam.
Producer/Director – BA2.
