Broken Allegiance 2 production report and the loss of Niobe Dean

Here is an update outlining the progress of pre-production of BA2 as of Sunday.

In August 2003 a storyline team of 6 people began working hard to develop a strong idea for Broken Allegiance 2. It took a lot of effort, but we came up with something we were excited about. A screenplay was then written from the outline and has already gone through a number of drafts to make it as engaging and interesting as we can, with strong characters and of course plenty of action.

Fight Choreography training began in November 2003 and a talented team of 12 people with backgrounds in martial arts disciplines, gymnastics, and acrobatics started developing a key fight scene. The sequence has been reaching a stage where we are very close to perfecting it.

Casting has occurred for most of the main roles.

A skilled makeup team has been assembled and actor’s heads have been cast and makeup designs started for an array of weird and wonderful alien makeup designs.

A team of 8 costume designers/creators began work in November creating the elaborate costumes needed. Countless hours have been spent on designs and creation.

Props department has begun making an array of weaponry for an assortment of characters.

Concept artwork has been started for the array of ships and locations in the film.

Sets have been designed and are about to begin construction.

Storyboards are halfway through visually illustrating the look of the film.

Location scouting has begun.

The DOP has assembled a talented camera department.

Our Post-production team is in the process of being coordinated.

First shoot date was to be in 8 weeks.

Then yesterday Niobe Dean told us she is leaving for Singapore on a modelling contract and will be living overseas for an indefinite period of time, meaning she has to leave the cast.

I have since contacted all of the donators/investors of BA2 informing them of this development and to get their feedback.

Right now our strongest options are to:

1. Re-cast another actress in the role of Calis.
2. Re-write the story without Calis.
3. Cancel the sequel.
4. Postpone the production for possibly a year or more with no guarantee when Niobe might return.
5. Create an entirely new fanfilm.

Ultimately it is the decision of our donors that will decide the fate of BA2. Due to its advanced state, our preference is to proceed with the production in some way. Anyone wanting their donation back will get it.

We are planning a production meeting with my main production team this week after all the answers have come back from the main donors. From that we shall make an informed decision and announce the verdict later this week.
